Course Description:
How you understand and use your mind is predictive of how successful you will be. This conference is all about helping you understand how to use your mind to succeed in school, work, and life in general. This conference takes you beyond mindfulness, teaching you to develop a lifestyle of cognitive transformation that is both sustainable and organic—suited to your perfect you. Understanding your mind and mindsets is key to finding your vocation, your happiness, your identity, and your meaning in life.
Objective


Following this course participants will be able to :

  1. Identify the link between information and understanding (how to process and use information), particularly in the digital age.
  2. Define how our mindsets (attitudes) affect our ability to think, learn and succeed in life.
  3. Identify how everyone has a unique way of thinking using Dr. Leaf’s clinically-researched Gift Profile, and understand and use our unique way of thinking to succeed in life.
  4. Discuss the mind-brain connection and how it affects every are of our lives, mentally and physically.
  5. Demonstrate how to use Dr. Leaf’s scientifically-based and clinically-researched 5-step learning process to harness memory in an effective way, enabling individuals to use their minds productively in every area of their lives, and improving their memory, learning and cognitive and intellectual performance.
  6.  Discuss the importance of community and social support as a predictor of mental and physical wellbeing.
About Dr Leaf: Dr. Caroline Leaf received her training in Communication Pathology (BSC Logopaedics) at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Dr Leaf also holds a Masters degree and Phd in Communication Pathology from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Since 1981, Dr. Caroline Leaf has researched the human brain with particular emphasis on unlocking its vast, untapped potential. She as specifically focused on the cognitive neuroscientific aspects of TBI/CHI (Traumatic brain injury/Closed head Injury) and the science of thought as it relates to thinking, learning and renewing the mind, gifting and potential.
 
Peter Amua-Quarshie MD, MPH, MS is an Assistant Professor specializing in Gross Anatomy and Neuroscience. His passion is demonstrating how the Mind can change brain anatomy and physiology. Originally from Ghana, he spent many years in the UK before settling in the US. He lives in Texas with his wife Mercy.


Dr. Mercy I Amua-Quarshie, MD MPH is originally from Ghana.  After spending earlier years in ob/gyn practice at both teaching and community hospitals in northeast, she now practices at Methodist Hospital system in Dallas.

 

Peter R. Breggin, MD is called “The Conscience of Psychiatry” for his many decades of successful efforts to reform the mental health field.  His scientific and educational work has provided the foundation for modern criticism of psychiatric drugs and leads the way in promoting more caring and effective therapies. 

 

Dr. Avery Jackson, MD, neurosurgeon has presented at several national meetings such as the SMISS and ISASS on minimally invasive spine surgery and vertebral augmentation and has been selected as one of only 13 centers across the country to be a part of the plot spine registry for the North American Spine Society.  He serves on the North American Spine Societies Guidelines committee and have performed over 400 vertebral augmentation procedures since practicing over the last 16 years.  He is a physician champion for the MNI (Michigan Neurosurgical Institute) FLS program in Michigan. The MNI FLS created the first bone health ECHO in Michigan.

 

Jason Littleton, MD is a board-¬≠certified family physician offering convenient concierge healthcare.  He is the founder and CEO of Littleton Concierge Medicine.  Additionally, he is the Department Chairman of Family Medicine for Orlando Regional Medical Center.  He emphasizes personal attention, prevention, and smart lifestyle choices for optimal health, wellness, energy, youthfulness, longevity, balance, and happiness. He encourages patients to eat nutritiously and focus on fitness, providing clear, practical, personalized guidance for doing so in our busy lives.

 

Dr. Lillian Lockett Robertson, MD is a practicing OB/GYN. Her medical career began at Texas Woman’s University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. She earned her Doctor of Medicine Degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. And afterwards returned to Houston, TX to attend the residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. During her residency, she served as Chief Resident at Baylor. After residency, she established her private practice, Women’s Healthcare, Inc., Lake Jackson, TX, where she practiced for over 20 years. As a staff physician at Brazosport Regional Hospital, Dr. Robertson held several titles including Chair of the Maternal Neonatal Department and Chief of Medical Staff. She also served a six-year term as a Board of Regent of Brazosport College.

 

Dr. Irinel Stanciu, MD is a Board Certified Endocrinologist (ABIM and ABPS) practicing General Endocrinology with special interest in thyroid, parathyroid and metabolic bone disorders and is a fellow of American College of Endocrinology (ACE) since 5/2014 as well as having ECNU Certification in Neck Ultrasound with special interest in thyroid and parathyroid ultrasound and fine aspiration biopsy of thyroid/parathyroid nodules and lymph nodes (in thyroid cancer patients).

 

Dr. Robert “Rusty” P Turner, MD is an owner and CEO of Network Neurology LLC, an integrative neuroscience center in Charleston SC.  Network Neurology is a busy clinical neurology and neuromodulation practice performing QEEG-guided non-invasive neurofeeback.  As a neuroscientist with 30 years experience, Dr. Turner is a clinician trained in clinical neurophysiology, child neurology, and neurodevelopmental medicine, adult neurology, epilepsy, and electrodiagnostic medicine, as well as pediatrics, clinical research, biostatistics and epidemiology.

 

Lori Volkman, JD spent fifteen years as a lawyer and prosecuting attorney in Washington State before becoming a Communication Strategist in 2010. After working with the mentally ill for two decades, she now represents the mentally ill in involuntary court proceedings and continues to research and create strategic communication campaigns. She received her undergraduate degree in Political Science with honors from the University of California at San Diego, and a Juris Doctorate from Willamette University College of Law in Salem, Oregon.

Jessica Leaf, is the director of non-profit The Whole Mind Project.
