Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) need to incorporate morphological intervention strategies into their comprehensive vocabulary treatment. SLPs will learn about the lengthy developmental process of morphological awareness. In addition, SLPs will identify and define 4 evidence-based techniques for morphological intervention. Over 40+ “Ready-to-Use” morphological activities will be provided and demonstrated from early school-age children through high school. Grade-level prefixes, suffixes and root words will be defined and described. The high frequency and common affixes and root words will be initially targeted for treatment. In addition, SLPs will learn numerous intervention activities for vocabulary knowledge within the context of reading grade-level books. Applying these evidence-based interventions will offer clinicians a working framework to enhance morphological awareness and vocabulary development.
